Willunga Basin Trail Inc became incorporated in 2016 to build a walking trail to:

  • expand walking opportunities for locals and visitors
  • promote the Willunga Basin with its combination of seascapes, agricultural landscape, rolling hills and historic townships
  • define the Willunga Basin in geographic and geological terms as an important strategy for its long-term preservation
  • preserve and enhance the natural areas through which the trail passes

Willunga Basin Trail Inc relies on the generosity and support of members and supporters to maintain the trail as a world class bush walking trail and protect it and its surroundings as a precious community resource for future generations.

The Walkers Group have been instrumental in designing and testing the route of the Trail.

Regular local bushwalks of varying length and difficulty are organised and led by experienced walkers, several having received bush walk leadership training.

A program of walks (mostly on Friday mornings) is emailed quarterly to WBT members.  Walks are scheduled throughout the year, with a short break over Christmas /New Year.

These walks are free to members and for the first walk, after that non-members are asked to join.

Support the Willunga Basin Trail

Everyone can enjoy walking on the Willunga Basin Trail as it has been built on public and private land which is open to the public. But the actual infrastructure is not publicly owned or maintained.

Willunga Basin Trail Inc is responsible for maintaining the surface track, the signage, posts, many of the creek crossings and for keeping the track clear enough to walk safely. This will require ongoing funds.
